Dan Eldon was a 22-year photojournalist who was violently killed in 1993 in Somalia by an angry crowd while he was working for Reuters to document the civil war and famine affecting millions of people. His life and legacy continue to grow through his words and images, inspiring many people to get involved in Dan’s spirit of “creative activism.” This magazine app profiles Dan’s life, the expedition—Team Deziree—that he organized when he was only 19 years old to help Mozambique refugees in Malawi, and the many change makers Dan’s life inspired, including filmmakers Jason Russell (Invisible Children) and Roko Belic (Happy). It explains how you can “join the safari” to continue learning more about Dan’s life and those he inspires. You can also learn how to become a Creative Activist through the Creative Visions Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization that supports people who use media and the arts to promote world change.
